Formative pruning of young trees

This type of pruning helps to train and shape young developing trees and shrubs and allows structural problems to be rectified early on and encourages strong stem and branch structure, improves stem spacing, size of branches and growth rate.

Crown thinning

This method of removing selected internal branches helps to reduce the crowns density whilst working to keep the overall size and shape of the tree. Crown thinning helps to allow more light and air into and through the canopy helping to reduce the outbreak of disease and damage. Thinning also reduces the risk of damage that could be caused from the effects of adverse weather.

Crown Reduction

This aims to help reduce the overall size of a trees crown normally when a tree has grown too large; while working to keep a natural shape, and can increase the time before any further pruning will be needed.

Crown Lifting

This increases the space between the ground and lower branches of a trees canopy by removing selected branches ideally when the tree is young to avoid any unnecessary stress on the tree although crown lifting can be done at any point of a trees life and allows more light to the floor underneath.

Dead Wooding

This is the removal of any dead wood from the tree that may pose a hazard to buildings, vehicles or the public. Deadwood if left unattended can also be harmful to the trees health and inhibit strong growth and is often a breeding ground for insects, fungus and a host of diseases.

Tree Felling

At times the only option for some trees is to completely fell a tree. This could be due to storm damage, rot, disease, decay or where the tree poses a high risk of damaging property. MM Tree Services are available to discuss the best action for tour tree(s) and have all necessary equipment and relevant training to safely carry out a tree fell.

Tree Dismantling

Three dismantling is done when a tree needs to be felled but is in a problematic area; such as near to buildings, confined areas or highly populated areas. The branches that are removed are simply lowered to the ground and thrown clear of any obstructions. Using this method of dismantling we are able to take down any tree to ground level which allows large trees to be removed from restricted sites.

Hazard Tree Removal

A fallen. Damaged or split tree can pose a serious health and safety risk to you and the public. If a tree does become dangerous we are available to do an emergency call out to rectify the problem.

Hedge Trimming

This is done as a way to keep hedges looking pleasing to the eye, helps to keep them full and compact and also to encourage new healthier growth.

Fruit Tree Pruning

Pruning of fruit trees helps to stimulate the production of flowers resulting in optimised fruit yields. Pruning also helps to shape trees, remove dead or diseased wood and helps to prevent weak branches that break under the weight of the fruit.

Stump grinding/ Removal

Once a tree has been cut off to ground level, as close to the soil as possible we are then able to grind out the stump so that the surrounding area can easily be levelled and replanted.

Logs

Some customers like to keep the larger sections of wood that is cut down during their tree job to use as firewood and we are able to leave manageable sections for customers that require it.

Alongside this we also offer for sale hardwood logs that have been seasoned in our yard before being split into logs. These logs are available for sale from MM Tree Services. Please contact us for information.
